2011 Competition: "Logo-Motion"

FRC Logomotion game description This year’s competition is an exciting array of flying inner tubes, armies of minibots, and a mob of excited fans jumping and dancing their way to victory. What exactly is “Logo-Motion”? Well for starters, the FIRST logo is a combination of triangles, circles, and squares. The game pieces are shaped to represent different parts of the logo; which the robots hang on pegs set at each side of the field. If the tubes are arranged into the form of a complete logo, bonus points are added.

The autonomous mode takes up the first 15 seconds of each round. In autonomous mode, the robot is programmed to interact on its own with no human control. The robot picks up a yellow “Ubertube” which it hangs on the pegs for extra points. When teleoperated mode (human operated) begins, if the scoring team puts a logo piece over the Ubertube, bonus points are awarded.

The last ten seconds of the match is probably the most important part of the game. The robots this year are equipped with minibots, which are deployed and attached to one of the four poles on the field. The first minibot to climb to the sensor at the top of the pole scores huge points for their alliance. The minibot race is the most crucial moment of each match, the amount of bonus points awarded to each team can completely change the outcome of the game.
