The Ratchet Rockers were founded in 2005. Also known as team #1706, students from two schools, Timberland and Holt high school began working together to reach a common goal. That same year, their first time in the competition, they earned the Rookie Inspiration Award. It was a good start for an even greater future.
On January 21, 2007, disaster struck. Just weeks before the competition, a pipe broke in the storage area and soaked their robot, damaging
hundreds of dollars of equipment. Still, the team worked on. Even though the school’s water pipes tried to sabotage their machine, the ratchet rockers worked harder than ever to complete their mission, earning them the Judges Award in the 2007 competition. Breakaway - FRC 2010
Breakaway is played on 27 by 54 foot field, and with two alliances of 3 teams compete in this version of soccer.Starting with a 15 sec Autonomous period; the robots are driven solely by the software preprogrammed into the robot. Once the first 15 sec are up the team drivers are then take over and drive. The goal of breakaway is to score as many goals in one of two goal on your end of the field.
